Racial Identity Struggles Among Multiracial Families and Children free essay sample

Numerous kids ordinarily experience the social disengagement of not having a place with a characterized gathering. I will analyze which variables impact these families to recognize racially, the mental impacts of their prosperity, and the significance of the instruction frameworks approach towards identifying with multiracial youngsters in the homeroom. A significant trouble blended race families and kids face are suppositions and misguided judgments about their racial character. One of the most well-known misguided judgments is gotten from the zone of sports and its immediate connection between's that of whites and blacks. The issue is that such logical confusions about the â€Å"natural† physicality of dark person’s body takes care of straightforwardly into the generalizations normal in racial contrasts. In the film â€Å"White Men Can’t Jump†, Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes depict a genuine model that these generalizations obstinate yet wait in unobtrusive rivalries still today. As far as racial character, we ought not need to ask blacks what exceptional qualities they have that empower quicker running or higher bouncing, but instead why a general agreement in regards to sports is so in-tuned with it not being of equivalent scope or athletic capacity with whites. We will compose a custom exposition test on Racial Identity Struggles Among Multiracial Families and Children or then again any comparable point explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page How blended kids racially distinguish can rely upon various variables, including physical highlights and family connections. To some extent, a person’s emotions and practices are in truth an immediate portrayal of the ethnic gathering they have recognized themselves with. In this manner, it is basic for guardians to have an inspirational viewpoint and an apparent general feeling of acknowledgment about their child’s ethnic character and acknowledge it is a basic piece of the formative procedure (Herman 2004). Guardians can nonetheless, impact youngsters to comprehend that ethnic character is more than what an individual can see outwardly. The mentalities of multi-racial kids are prevalently affected by guardians, educators, peers, and more distant family, every one of whom have a significant job in encouraging a childs acknowledgment and pride in their racial character. Youngsters, who are exposed to an absence of instruction in regards to their ethnic culture or wind up trying to secure additional time with one parent or the other, can lose a character and become 'stale (Wardle 2000). Individuals from explicit multi-ethnic gatherings frequently share basic culture, conventions, values, as well as convictions. Speculations are created through different ethnographic investigations, notwithstanding led interviews among bi-racial and multiracial families (Herman 2004). Multiracial families have come to understand that it is very hard to fit into a particular ethnic gathering. Keeping up an ethnic character is especially applicable when ones ethnic gathering is the minority bunch in the public arena (Herman 2004). Most normally people start to relate to their â€Å"master status†, which is their essential personalities that eclipse their other status’. U. S. hildren of highly contrasting parentage have extra troubles because of the polarization of blacks and whites (Wardle 2000). In social orders that neglect to recognize their ethnic and racial foundations, biracial youngsters frequently battle as they endeavor to consolidate their double legacy without trading off it is possible that one. In the U. S. the broad foundations and legacy of numerous multi-racial kids is practically subtle. It has been speculated that this imperceptibility happens on the grounds that society endeavors to keep the races unadulterated, disregarding the way that such immaculateness doesn't exist. Regularly, offspring of multi-racial parentage are related to whichever race their physical highlights most reflects (Wardle 2000). Sadly, offspring of multi-racial parentage experience the ill effects of a similar bigotry and preference that insults those of unmixed minority legacy (Herman 2004). Society frequently pressures blended race people to pick only one race as a result of the obsolete â€Å"one-drop rule† which commanded that Americans with any African legacy be delegated black(Wardle 2000). This kind of colorism has for some time been an issue for blended race individuals and renders the individual clumsy of his/her total legacy. Accomplishing a full feeling of character is a significant mental assignment for kids, best case scenario, yet constraining them to pick either is a conscious endeavor to dismiss the assorted variety and multi-social encounters they are qualified for. In such cases, second era kids conceived in America who just communicate in English, may think that its difficult to speak with family members who talk their outside tongue. Furthermore, youngsters may lose a personality when huge zones of their legacy are not visited or disclosed to them in detail. Youngsters who are socially interconnected with critical cosmetics of their hereditary legacy are lucky and less endorsed than the individuals who have not had the benefit. Character improvement is an endless procedure. A large number of the hardest issues multi-ethnic people and families face is picking which part of their personality they need to underscore. Ethel Branch, whose mother is Navajo and whose father is part Spanish-Mexican, part Basque and part French, went to an all Native-American evaluation school in Arizona. As per Branch she was alluded to as a â€Å"white Indian† in her more youthful years because of this perfection of foundations she had. As she states, â€Å"It’s extremely hard dealing with your own personality, you just don’t have that legitimacy that others have† (Colby 1999). Sociologists have built up the term biracial youngsters as â€Å"marginal man,† this is the point at which an individual needs to live in two sorts of universes, less extraordinary, however two contradicting societies. Biracial children’s attributed statuses are examined by society and researchers, their double status is taken a gander at as being in two sections. The investigation leaves kids to pick or relate to, one race over the other. This awkward situation is very uncomfortable for biracial kids to keep up. Research has indicated that biracial kids might be ignored from single racial gathering classes and occasions. Campbell and Eggerling-Boeck (2006) have brought up that biracial kids are left disconnected on the grounds that they have no devices to use in figuring out how to acclimatize inside a particular gathering. As indicated by Harris and Thomas (2002), have alluded to â€Å"external race† as the race that a spectator allots to the individual’s personality, and â€Å"expressed race† alludes to the â€Å"articulations of an individual’s character through words and actions† (2004:4). Poor psychological wellness and social modification are minor impressions of this disgrace. Society marks biracial youngsters by their outside appearance by partner their skin tone to a specific single race classification in spite of the kid being biracial. The dismissal brought about by social networks from both racial gatherings of the youngster may prompt poor psychological well-being and lacking social cooperation. The steady test of being asked routinely what their identity is, the place do they have a place, who do you relate to, gets unpleasant for biracial youngsters (Campbell and Eggerling-Boeck 2006). The battle to relate to what their identity is gets mistaking for multiracial youngsters and people (Campbell and Eggerling-Boeck 2006). Society sets these jobs for multiracial youngsters, to pick a status and adhere to that status. Multiracial youngsters manage consistent job strife as they are normal and on occasion compelled to look over just one of their particular races. Numerous biracial and multiracial youngsters may have been raised on one specific side of their family and have gotten comfortable with the ways and ways of life of that race, ethnicity, and culture yet society expect that multiracial kids will promptly additionally relate to the ways of life, patterns, and methods of their other half dependent on the physical trademark generalizations of their hair type and skin tone. Numerous schools commend explicit occasions intended to feature different minority societies: Martin Luther King Day and Black History Month for African Americans, Hanukkah for Jews, Chinese New Year for Chinese Americans, etc. The push to incorporate and praise the ever-expanding decent variety of the understudy populace in this nation just as others is gradually being reflected in educational plans, substance, practices and festivities. Training has a significant influence in the manner multiracial families are being perceived through these multicultural festivals. Numerous instructive apparatuses, for example, decent variety workshops, multicultural festivals, multicultural children’s books, and educational plan content all assistance multicultural youngsters to discover their place in the public arena. Educational plan gives data relating authentic multiethnic Americans and multicultural antibias exercises, notwithstanding the interestingly structured assorted variety workshops. With respect to biracial and multiracial youngsters and families, their difficulties of fitting into any single class of race proceed. So as to stay aware of the interest of racial order from society these families take on the conflict by instructing and presenting their youngsters to conventional normal societies, convictions, and strict otherworldly childhoods. By passing on these conventions, it is more uncertain for multiethnic and multiracial kids to battle with the difficult and disappointing disgrace and investigation brought upon by society. With a more profound comprehension of personality, biracial and multiracial children’s capacities to keep up pressure reinforce. With greater network based activities and occasions that take into account multiracial kids, assets for co

The Roll of Cultural Diversity in Education free essay sample

The role of cultural diversity in education and how it effect on Students, teachers and the community Culture encapsulates so many characteristics that shape an individual. There are not only influences from gender, race but also from class, age, geographic location, religion and even language influence one’s own cultural identity. In the United States, the student population is one of the most diverse in the whole world. We have a large number of immigrants who locate here from countries across the globe in search of a better life. A result of this is that our society is made up of a large diversity of people who speak a myriad of languages and have their own customs. It is the responsibility of society and educators to recognize and react to the changing population in order to make our students successful. Educators have an obligation to help identify the needs of their students in order to provide a proper education. We will write a custom essay sample on The Roll of Cultural Diversity in Education or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Students are not only affected by their own culture, but the culture they need to assimilate to.According to our text understanding cultural differences and learning to recognize when students do not share your own cultural patterns are critical steps in the provision of equitable learning environment. When students never see themselves in textbooks or stories, the culture of their families and communities is denigrated. As a result, students too often learn that their own culture is inferior to the official culture of the school or mainstream culture (Johnson, Musial, Hall, Gollnick, Dupuis 2005). It is important that the teaching materials used by teachers are proportionate to the student population within the local school system. The administrators and principles need to diligently study the demographic of their school district every year in order to identify what challenges they may face in order to identify the needs for the upcoming school year. Society has changed over the last 25 – 30 years not only through cultural diversity, but the recognition of sexual orientation in regards to homosexuality. I graduated from high school in 1985, and there was no recognition of anyone in our school as to being straight or gay. If someone was gay, they were â€Å"in the closet† for fear of getting beaten or ostracized.Society did not accept homosexuality and AIDS was beginning to be a household term for god’s punishment for those who chose a homosexual lifestyle. Times have changed, and there is more acceptance, but there is still more work that needs to be done. Many openly gay students are still verbally and physically harassed in schools and as a result experience isolation and loneliness to the point of committing suicide. Our schools need to develop support systems where lesbian and gay students can come to school and feel safe. This cannot easily be done. Many communities are intolerant of lesbians and gays and do not see the need for such recognition. Because the school system is a result of the community it serves, it needs to work to change such prejudices within the community in order to serve its students.

Church History 1700-1871 Essays - French People,

Church History 1700-1871 1700-1871 - The age of Enlightenment. This period can be situated between the death of Louis XIV, in 1715, and the 9th November 1799, when the future emperor Napoleon Bonaparte took power. The intervening period may be divided into several stages: first the Regency, followed by the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI, and finally the French Revolution. France, the most populated country in Europe, was to experience almost eighty years of domestic peace and economic prosperity. With the emergence of the philosophical spirit in salons, cafes and clubs, came the gradual erosion of monarchical authority. Strengthened by their new-found financial power, the capitalistic bourgeoisie showed clear signs of wanting to annex political power, an ambition that would be achieved from 1789 onwards. In the domain of the arts, the ageing Louis XIV hoped to see childhood instilled in everything. Under the Regency, this trend of light heartedness became more pronounced and was to flourish during the reign of Louis XV. The widespread taste for elegance, comfort and beautiful objects even infiltrated the ranks of the bourgeosie. But, in the second half of the century, the philosophers reacted against society's libertine tendencies. They advocated a return to the virtues of the Ancient and Republican Rome, the majority of which would be adopted as the revolutionary ideal. During this time period, people would pay taxes called tithes to the church. You could also pay Indulgences to Church and be forgiven of your sins. Common believe was that the more money you paid in indulgences the better chance you had of going to heaven. The Church of this period is considered by many historians to be a manipulative, influencial and powerful force. Some key figures of this Period are the French Philosophe Voltaire and the King of the time Louis XVI. Voltaire Born on November 21, 1694 in Paris. Voltaire's style, wit, intelligence and keen sense of justice made him one of France's greatest writers and philosophers. Voltaire left school at 16 and soon formed friendships with a group of sophisticated Parisian aristocrats. Paris society sought his company for his cleverness, humor and remarkable ability to write verse. In 1717 he was arrested for writing a series of satirical verses ridiculing the French government, and was imprisoned in the Bastille. In 1726 Voltaire insulted a powerful young nobleman and was given two options: imprisonment or exile. He chose exile and from 1726 to 1729 lived in England. While in England Voltaire was attracted to the philosophy of John Locke. The book was thought to criticize the French government and Voltaire was forced to flee Paris again. In 1759 Voltaire purchased an estate called Ferney near the French-Swiss border where he lived until just before of his death. Ferney soon became the intellectual capitol of Europe. Throughout his years in exile Voltaire produced a constant flow of books, plays, pamphlets, and letters. He was a voice of reason, and an outspoken critic of religious intolerance and persecution. Voltaire returned to a hero's welcome in Paris at age 83. The excitement of the trip was too much for him and he died in Paris. Because of his criticism of the church Voltaire was denied burial in church ground. He was finally buried at an abbey in Champagne. In 1814 a group of ultras stole Voltaire's remains and dumped them in a garbage heap. No one was the wiser for some 50 years. His enormous sarcophagus was checked and the remains were gone. His heart, however, had been removed from his body, and now lays in the Bibliotheque nationale in Paris. His brain was also removed, but disappeared after an auction. Religion

Devils in Disguise essays

Devils in Disguise essays Under idealism nothing exists except the mind. Whoever controls the mind controls everything. Therein lies the secret of absolute power (Rapoport 1989) Has this method been used by most of the well known bloodiest dictators in history? The answer is most definitely yes! Every man is a maker of history; in fact, some man not only left a mark on those they knew through life, but they left a lasting impression on the entire world. These men claimed to want only stability; furthermore, they claimed to view revolution with horror, yet they were themselves in a sense, the most ruthless revolutionaries the world had ever seen. From the perspective of the future, the differences among all forms of violent political extremists will always blur. Of the many influential leaders whose dictatorship soaked in blood no only their countries but the world it self, Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini share such ruthlessness and hideous crimes in the annals of history. There are many reasons why Napoleon Bonaparte was indeed a ruthless warlord (dictator). To begin, after most of his battles, many cities were totally destroyed whether it was by him or by his enemies. Most cities in Russia were destroyed by the Russian themselves as to avoid leaving any goods for Napoleon. Russians intended to leave nothing for the enemy, so they raid through the country destroying all the villages and all source of resources; to illustrate, Kovno, Vilna, Vitebsk, Smolensk, Viasna, Gzatsk, Borodino and Moscow were among the cities brought down to ruins. Second, Napoleon was an unmerciful militant commander. Many of his soldiers died due to his orders to continue through such cold temperatures. While fighting with the Russians, many French soldiers died due to starvation and the freezing temperatures, for none of the French were issued any gear for the winter. Tired men dropped in their tracks and pushed to the side of the road...

The Marketing Communication Plan Marketing Essay

The Marketing Communication Plan Marketing Essay With the background information I have been given in this assignment, I have created a key objective for the health and fitness centre where I will gather a report that reviews and analyses the marketing communications activities also outlines recommendations for future communications activities. My aim at first place is to increase the number of members, I will also propose to use more personal selling to develop new accounts, this will increase the amount of trials and encourage other members to join a fitness club and be made aware of other promotions. Like many fitness clubs devote themselves to schedule a marketing plan, research shows that promoting for health club is managed by using telephone (telemarketing) Radio (radio advertising) Biz (business membership programs) Mail (direct mail and email marketing), TV (cable advertising) News (newspaper advertising), etc (Source: fitness360). These tools have been tested and proven that promotion is custom designed in particular relation with demographics region, time of the season, current members, male-female ratio and other information gathered from clubs profile before starting of the promotion. When analyzing them all together by designing multiple exposures marketing programs to achieve the campaign, Ill suggest to employ a pull up strategy, with most prospects aged between 10- 25 mostly targeting primary school, and college to offer them services that encourage students. This group has most free leisure time and most disposable income to spend on visiting a fitness club ever si nce most schools and colleges do not have the health and fitness service in their premises. This will also reinforce current members beliefs and help create loyalty which could aspire them to use a fitness club at some point in the future. Ill also suggest targeting the affordable sector of the market with a competitive pricing, including off-peak membership and low joining fees. Ill make the use of the PEST analysis to analyse external impacts on the health and fitness club that requires examining political, economic, social and technological environments. Political In the UK and worldwide government policy has potential influence to the market, specific initiatives could benefit the industry but theres also a broader push on the part of the government to try and promote healthy eating and exercise, possibly resulting in more people seeking gym membership. Early this year the government encouraged people to get fit ahead of the Olympic to come. Economic The economic factors such as utilities prices and wage rates will affect numerous aspects of any fitness club in the UK, the fitness costs will rise and members may need to prioritise their spending as cuts are made on their disposable income, especially in the prospect group. Not a lot of people are willing to spend much in the fitness club when they could on their own practice physical exercise at home, however price will be reviewed in order to well compete in the market and encourage subscribers to join a fitness club. Social Lifestyle factors such as growth in convenience foods and home entertainment have resulted in more muddy lifestyles; consumption levels of alcohol are rising which will effect gym participation and subscription. In todays celebrity cultures theres lots of pressure to looking better in the social life and have better appearance; this has influenced the levels of people who want to improve themselves such as some men that are influence to build six pact bodies to attract more females and such are also the desire of some women encourage their men not to be obese. Technological Its important that the health and fitness club have up to date machines to compete with others and satisfy the needs of the members. However I will also use technology to target the public in an effective way, text messages with special offers and online free trial vouchers and also create a page on the socials network.(source: 2.warwick) Task2. Marketing communications mix The first element of my strategy is the vision for health and fitness club, which is to ensure the quality of the fitness club, in which the communities get its service, where my goal is to maximize earnings. My mission is to create a winning strategy that is unique. Every fitness and health club plans is designed base on the personal exercise and nutrition history, past and presents events. In order to accomplish the marketing communications mix I will outline my strategy in more details and then bring forth my marketing communication mix to emphasis more on my ambition. The strategy section will be divided into discussions around objectives, message, and media. Objectives: The strategic objective will aim to provide the fitness club consumers, access to sport and exercise opportunities to the top range facilities by adopting a healthy lifestyle. A physical activity and exercise will be integrated into the curriculum wherever possible, The fitness club will work with its local partners in education and people to share information, knowledge, skills and expertise, for example with schools, Higher Education and local employers through the arrangement of work placements for students and will share good practice at national competitive sporting events. The fitness will give services to support pupils progressing from school to college a unique opportunity to consolidate good experiences or to re-engage those who have had a less positive experience. Allowing students to actively engage in recreation and extracurricular activities, including sport, when activities are discovered and adult habits are formed they will still be on the go to be familiar with the fitness centre, with a given benefit to ensure that all students have access to develop healthy and physically active. With the local customers of the fitness club, promotion will be given, such as free weekly passes to the members, allowing them to bring friends and close relatives, which could attract some new subscriber, with a discount packages to the current member that manage to bring friends, promote a fitness fair, by having an open house for the public to give free passes. Set up drop-boxes in a few public places advertising a chance to win a free 3 months membership, this will allow people to obtain contact names and numbers. Give people a call and put forward them a free 7-day pass, and have a drawing for the grand prize. Message: My message should sound making bold statements to draw the attention of people in belief of my commercial messages: organizing a public speaking and fitness group will means getting people together to motivate each other by allowing people to be aware of what we are attend to do and reminding them of our existence. However getting out and spreading words concerning the fitness club, is one way to promote fitness and organizing a fitness group is to explain in more details the importance of physical activity, therefore public speaking may be one way to get the word out to the public and sedentary friends and co-workers. To achieve this, Ill suggest the use of current staff and get them trained and have sufficient knowledge to encouraging people to subscribe, by telling their own experiences regarding the good effect since they joined the fitness club and how you got to be physically fit, they should also mention how fitness has changed their lives. Go over the benefits of phy sical fitness such as weight loss, improved self-esteem, and renewed energy. All of these could be done by demonstrating the good facilities that are there to encourage people, by joining the health centre, and why choosing to join us whiles other health centres are still there? In so doing, people will understand my overall message, where the key point is to promote exercise, consistency and offer support and encouragement, and then for sure people might now develop the need to join the health and fitness centre.( source: sales-and-marketing-for-you) Media: when hoping to bring a new product or in my case to promote a new service that will be ruining in fitness club, you need to carefully consider possible ways to promote your product. Being excited about the new services is fine but having to get the public excited about it will be the most important aspect, if the aims are to make money. However, using different mediums such as Radio, Bus, TV, public speaking, and social network are welcome (source: ehow). The key point illustrating on marketing communication mix is to create strategies and tactics goals around each stages of the sales process. As the growth of customer improve from side to side of the stages from unaware to aware, interested, evaluation and purchase, the message and communication tools, uses on every single stage needs to link into where the customers are in the journey and what sort of information will help them progress to the next stage. Specifically focusing on internet and face to face marketing in order to increase brand awareness. The adverts will show the benefits of healthy lifestyles, giving the consumer the idea about getting in shape. However: Population trends by socio economic group are an important influence on ability and prosperity to spend on fitness club membership. Consumers from the socio economic groups are the most likely to use health and fitness clubs regularly, most are light TV viewers so this medium is not an effective target, Radio is like ly to be more effective. (Source: sales-and-marketing-for-you).The use of social media has exploded in recent years as a way to raise awareness and generate free traffic. This is a very broad term which includes sites and services such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, and many others. The main advantages of tapping into the power of social media are that it is free and that your message has the potential to go viral and reach a huge amount of people without additional effort. The negative effect in social media is how to avoid being considered a spammer. The key to successfully promote services in social media is to provide content that is worth enough, that people really want to follow and take your advice when you recommend services that they are looking the most to get, for instance a page address will be create and give some brief explanation of what we do, who we are and what are the benefits of joining us, there shall be a drop up mail for people to leave note and comme nts, consistency survey will be on the site for people to tell us what they think, where improvement could be done to still attract subscribers.( source: clickbank) Task3. Marketing communication plan The section shields the strategic day to day aspects of setting up my plan into action, where the use of my judgment and discretion on deciding how to schedule and plan activities, calculating costs and measuring progress will be outlined. The cost of the marketing will certainly play a big part in what I am intend to do. Bad sales and marketing is as a general announcement focused on no one in particular. In order to maximize a huge return profit, it is always good to approach the marketing plan with consideration and not devote a lot of money on a single marketing channel or campaign. I will instead try to shape up a range of successful publicity approaches over a time, I will also outline its cost, and how much money will I have to spend on advertising campaign? How long and how much each communication method will be balanced against the marketing communication budget. I will at first place, be concerned about the break-even point before developing any sales and marketing program, including advertising cost. I will also find out how much is each new customer and exiting customer worth to the fitness club? When observing the lifetime value of the health and fitness club subscriber, I will use approximation such as fi guring out, how long each customer stays with the fitness club, where the contract will be given for 1-3 years for the new subscribers. Once I know the number and frequency of sales I derived from the average customer, I can then use profit margin to estimate how much each customer worths to the fitness club and how many customers is needed to obtain the specific marketing campaign, in order to consider it as a success: However, focusing on 4 different medium as a starter, to promote my new services, I found that the cost for ITV 1 channel per day in Yorkshire is of  £411, the cost of Local Radio Station is of  £40 per week with 8 short spot adverts of 15 seconds per day and the cost of transport advertising is of  £159 per week ( Source: Blackboard). My message needs to reach customers, therefore the out home advertising buses will be these that are seen on high street shops and go to different places of the city, where middle and junior management of the social class are liv ing. Based on my research, I will therefore recommend 4 weeks of advertising on radio which worths  £160 a whole month , 4 week buses advertising with the cost of  £636 the month and 4 Sundays advertising on ITV 1 as most weekends, especially on Sunday people stay home and get prepare for the coming week, where they will be target on the daytime services of 11am to be aware of the services from the fitness club at the cost of  £1644, the total average budget for the advertising will be estimated at the price of  £2440 for a whole month . Personal selling: This is the most frighten as well as the most costly methods in the marketing communication process. Nevertheless, as small business we are, it also can be the most rewarding aspects of my marketing process. Just as with usual marketing, good selling practice begins and ends with the customer. My whole objective is to remind the local area about the existence of the club, inform them about the new services that will be taking place in the health centre: However, due to the huge volumes of fitness club, Well differentiate ourselves from other fitness and health centre, by determining their needs and create the best solution for customers and then persuade them to subscribe with us. Report Executive Account Statement To: Brand Spanking Agency 29/10/2012 I Daniel Kevin AMATCHA, I am please to submit my report describing on how I intend to promote the fitness and health club. The purpose of this report was to gather sufficient information to render professional opinion about advertising your health and fitness club. This assessment includes research and figures concerning the cost of the whole month budget when using the mass media to promote the fitness club: however. I have also included the PEST analysis, which is an effective way to analyse external impacts on the health and fitness club, and planned the strategic action that will be of good use for the marketing communications mix as I separated into discussions around objectives, message, and media. I have also introduced a marketing communication plan on how to work side with the marketing mix, which I have designed along with its schedule and plan activities including the cost of the advertising. You may also find underneath of my report the weekly statement budget and the chosen mediums to promote your health and fitness club for a month period. Conforming to Society: individuality and dignity Essay

Conforming to Society Fitting into society comes with the need to be yourself in hopes that other people will accept you for who you truly are. One’s individuality and dignity are automatically taken away by the desire to fit in. Many people believe that others should act a certain way to be â€Å"normal† like everyone else without having the need to be their own person and expressing themselves, while at the same time being accepted by society for who they truly are. Take Tom Leppard as an example, a bizarre individual, identified in the article, â€Å"The Sociology of Leopard Man,† by Logan Feys, an online blogger, and high school teacher. Feys describes Tom Leppard as an extraordinary individual that does not feel the need to act like everyone else in society. When it comes to being an individual the unique aspects that make us who we are often overshadowed by society’s pressure to conform when in reality we should be accepted and respected for our individuality. Many do not realize that living a different lifestyle outside of the normal society could actually make them happier rather than following the â€Å"norm†. In the article, Feys states, â€Å" Leopard Man- unlike many millions of people who are slaves to society’s demands- is happy.† (1) This quote helps show readers that you don’t have to live up to society’s demands in order to be happy. Just because many of us live under the impression to act a certain way doesn’t mean those that choose to live a non-conformist lifestyle should be forgotten about. To expand on Feys’ claim many that live differently from society get the chance to express their individuality which could, therefore, lead to them living a happier life, as Leopard Man has shown. Many will argue that society shouldn’t be forced to accept people that choose to live a non-conformist lifestyle. In the article, â€Å"Non-Conformists Conform†, Robin Hanson states, â€Å"Sometimes you can’t please everyone†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Even though this may be true society should still be able to accept them for who they are as people even though they may not be 100% on board with what they are doing. Many times non-conformist aren’t doing any harm which gives people no right to mistreat others that choose to have a different lifestyle than them. All people should be accepted and respected no matter if they choose to live a non-conformist lifestyle or not. In short, people like Tom Leppard should be able to live their life as they please while at the same time know that they are not being misjudged based on how they want to live their life. Many need to start seeing that even though they are not living up to society’s expectations it doesn’t mean that they are not a part of society. They should still be seen as normal human beings that are not afraid to show their own individual characteristics that make them unique. To conclude, people need to start to accept non-conformists as a part of society and not simply ignore their presence or misjudge/mistreat them based off of how they choose to live their life.

China and India Essay

Classical China and India had differences and similarities in religion, society, and technology/ inventions. In China, there were 3 major religions while in India there were only two. China had three social groups in which the people were placed. India had the Caste system that included five levels. The people of Classical China invented some important items while in India, major advances in astronomy, medicine, and math were being made. China’s religious and philosophical views were different from India’s because they had distinct faiths. China’s major religions/ philosophies were Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism which focused on peace with the world and worship of ancestors. India’s major religions, Hinduism and Buddhism emphasized reincarnation. Although different religions, both Chinese and Indian lives were the same in that religion formed a big part of their day, whether Confucianism, Legalism, Daoism, Hinduism, or Buddhism, a lot of time was devoted to worshiping their faith. India and China both used a system of grouping people socially. Even though different methods, the people lived according to their group. Most of the religions like Hinduism, Confucianism, and Legalism accepted these social groups. India’s Caste system consisted of five levels. Moving up in a social class was nearly impossible in both China and India. In the Caste system, the people were arranged in hierarchical and patriarchal levels. On the other hand, the three social classes of China were: the landowners, the peasants, and at the bottom were the mean people. When it comes to advances in intellectuality and inventions that influenced our world today, China and India were very different. China and India were different in intellectual advances because they gradually made a move forward, but in different fields. China invented paper, a major item still used today. To help make the production of crops easier, the Chinese invented the water powered mill. Another grand advance of classical China was an accurate calendar still used in China today. While in India, they were making life changing discoveries. In astronomy, they determined the length of our solar year, they identified the seven planets, and they calculated the circumference of our planet earth. Because of infections and diseases, they developed vaccines to immunize and protect their population. Classical India also learned to sterilize wounds. India and China had different levels of thinking, but both made important discoveries that impacted the world. In conclusion, China and India were very different, yet alike in many aspects. They were different in religion, society, technology, and inventions. These differences and similarities made up the classical civilizations of India and China.
